Do you feel called into missions?

Is there a quiet (or not-so-quiet) pull on your heart to serve, go, and make a difference?
Missions isn't just about where you go-it's about how God can use you. If you've been wondering "is this for me?", maybe it's time to explore the call.

Pray then tell
  • Tell your pastor about what God has been placing on your heart. Ask him to join you in praying. Update him regularly.

  • Ask three other people to be your prayer partners during this discovery/preparation time.

  • Pray for the people of the world who are yet to know Him and for missionaries who you know.

  • Talk to your family about how God is leading you.

  • Contact the WGLD at missions@wgldcma.org  so that they can join you in praying and assist you as needed.

Learn
  • Go to CALLED2SERVE.ORG to learn about which areas within the Alliance  you could serve

  • Study the Bible and begin or continue a good Bible memory discipline

  • Read missionary biographies and books on international work

  • Look into taking an on-line missions course from one of the Alliance colleges

  • Lean into your church and the options it provides for learning

Serve
  • Serve in your local church through worship, teaching, outreach, etc.

  • Gain real life experience through additional activities (work with college international students, teach English as a second language, etc)

Go
  • Go on a short-term trip

  • Go on an Envision trip (longer term). Find out more at: weareenvision.com/sites

  • Go to your church’s District events and camps

  • Go to the Alliance Council (this takes place every other year). More information can be found at cmalliance.org.

  • Go to Converge (takes place annually in January). Converge empowers all Alliance people to mobilize their church in missions and join God in what He is doing in neighborhoods and the nations. You will be equipped with resources and strategies to cultivate a sending culture in your church and partner with The Alliance to bring all of Jesus to all the world! Pray, study and tell
  • Be in the Word – Find a Bible-reading plan and get some accountability with someone

  • Be in Prayer – Pray big prayers for your friends to come to know Jesus and for revival in your city

  • Be in Community – Your Christian friends in youth group can help you grow and so can your mentor, youth pastor and church

  • Be in Church – Find a way to serve

  • Talk to your parents about what God is laying on your heart

  • Talk to your youth group leader or pastor about this

  • Contact the WGLD (the district office for the Alliance in Wisconsin and the U.P.)  at missions@wgldcma.org  so that they can join you in praying and also assist you

Learn
  • When you sense a call, you need to explore it and have good conversations about it. Find someone ASAP to mentor/disciple you in your calling. This could be your pastor, a youth pastor, a church member who is a good role model, or an intrenational worker you have met.

  • As you pursue college, work very hard to stay out of debt

  • Check out the Alliance website specifically for youth at Alliance Youth

  • Check out the Alliance website at cmalliance.org

  • Follow international worker blogs

  • Read Alliance Life (found at the C&MA website) 

  • Find out possible training paths to take

  • Read international worker books and biographies

Go
  • Go on a short-term missions' trip

  • Go to your church’s District events and camps. Contact the WGLD office for more information.

  • Go to LIFE (the Alliance youth gathering: link above for Alliance Youth will have information about this)

  • Go to one of the Alliance colleges for your post-secondary education

Pray
  • Talk to God about what He wants you to do with your life

  • Pray  and ask God about how can you serve Him today

  • Pray and ask God about how can you serve Him as a grown up?

  • Pray for people in your family and city who need to hear about God and the Bible and His plan

  • Pray for the lost people of the world.  You can use the book "Window on the World" to help you know what to pray

  • Get in the habit of talking to God through the whole day

Learn
  • Read the Bible everyday.  Have you read through the entire Bible yet?  Start today. You can do it!

  • Memorize Bible verses. Start with one verse, and then add another, and another.  Keep it up!

  • Read books about the lives of international workers. A great book series is the Trailblazer Books by Dave and Neta Jackson

  • Go to your church's kids' activities

  • Go to Bible camp

  • Go and tell your church that you want to help

  • Go to your church's missions meetings

Go
  • Write letters to the international workers from your church.

  • Ask them questions.  Learn from them. Pray for them.

  • Ask your parents to  show you the worker letters that they get so that you can read them too.
